Event Alerts: Cobourg, ON and Kingston, ON

The long holiday weekend means lots of great events will be taking place across the country.  If you are in Ontario and have some time between BBQ’s, fireworks, and all that other great Canada Day stuff, you can squeeze in some shopping and crafty goodness at one of these shows:

  • The Cobourg Waterfront Festival starts today, and runs to July 4th.  Billed as the largest open air fine art and craft show in Ontario, you are sure to find some great handmade goodies!  You can get driving directions here, and parking and shuttle info here.
  • The Kingston FanFayre Arts and Crafts Show opens at noon tomorrow, then 10 am daily through to July 4th.  Over 90 artists from Ontario and Quebec will be in attendance with a wide variety of handmade articles for you to check out!  Directions to the event are available online.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Canada Day, *eh?!

Cheers,
Jennifer

*you didn’t think I would let Canada Day go by without at least one little gratuitous eh, did you??

Babies + Hats = CiteFuzz

Oh. My. Goodness.

Put a baby in a hat, and I turn to mush… so you can imagine the big grin on my face when I found CiteFuzz tonight! Lori, the driving force between CiteFuzz, creates these adorable hats in her “spare” time between raising her 4 children and supporting her musician husband in his endeavors.

She designs and creates all of her own patterns, so these are truly unique hats for your own one-of-akind little one! CiteFuzz offers a range of sizes from newborn to adult, although I think the wee baby ones are the most precious.

Really, you can’t help but smile when you see these!

CiteFuzz.com - Flap Hat

Most adorable Flap Hat!

CiteFuzz - Mini Monkey

Baby with monkey ears!!

CiteFuzz - Helmet Hat

A cutie, made even cuter with a helmet hat!

CiteFuzz can be found all over the internet with a shop on Etsy and icraft.ca, as well as homes on Facebook and Twitter. I’m off now to decide which one of these will fit my daughter next winter!

Cheers,
~Sarah

The joy of handmade

I spent a couple of hours this afternoon, puttering around the internet and I have the biggest smile on my face tonight! Obviously, we’re just getting started here, but I’m pretty excited about the plans that we’ve laid out and all the fantastic artists and crafters that I keep stumbling upon! I’ve been buying Canadian handmade for years, but the depth of talent and variety in the marketplace continues to astound me. It is such a JOY to see all the passion, hard work and pride that goes into each handmade item… they are worthy of every bit of attention we can shine on them!

So, if you, or someone you know, is a creative Canadian with an online presence we’d love to hear about it! You can follow us on Twitter (@canadahandmade) or email us at canadianhandmade@gmail.com to keep in touch. If you have an interesting story about how you started in your chosen field or just want to share about your process, we’d love to do a feature interview.

More great things to come!

Cheers,
~Sarah
