I love all things Canadian! and love what you are doing with this! I am a paper artist and don't venture too far from home. It's great to be in contact with other Canadians who think in the same vein as myself!

My favorite handmade gift is a blue topaz ring that my grandmother designed and made while she was overseas. While she was taking it to get appraised to sell, (just for extra money) I commented on how I loved it. I also had commented on how I had nothing in the form of heirlooms from my family, and for my graduation from college she gave me that ring! It's gorgeous and a one of a kind piece of jewelry that serves as an heirloom :)

Also, I liked Canadian Handmade on facebook :)

What is the best handmade gift you’ve ever made yourself and gifted OR what is the best handmade gift you’ve ever received?

One of the best presents that I received is actually from one of the artists on this page. My partner had a family of yermits created that represented our family and it was fantastic - there were special elements of each individual that were included and they proudly sit together on a cabinet that I pass by daily.

Another present was a stained glass divider that fits between our kitchen and dining room divide - it has elements representing the 15 years of marriage (where we met, colours and shapes reflecting my love of FLW's architecture).

Then there was the monster hat (it's awesome) that I wear on snowy days that looks like a monster that's eating my head. Oh..and the knit scarf my mother-in-law made that's fuzzy with pretty underlying colours.

There's the case I made for my partner's modular synthesizer that I was really proud of making (with some help) and the jewelry box painted with a mandala that I gave to my niece. She's getting a homemade book safe this year from me.

I could go on, but I'll stop there. :)

I'll head over to Facebook now and for the bonus entry like you on Facebook. :)
