Obviously, we here at C+H are pretty proud Canadians, and we wanted to do something a bit different today to celebrate Canada Day. So, we’ve got a little contest happening! We sent out a call over Facebook and Twitter, and a few fine Canadian crafters have offered up some goodies for a MADE IN CANADA prize pack.
TO ENTER:
Comment on this post (or over on our Facebook fan page!) and tell us about your favourite handmade-in-Canada shop, crafter, artist, craft show, gallery, website etc. Share the love!
Now, for the prizes and the fab Canadian crafters who made them:
SewEco, based in Brantford ON, has some very cute and definitely earth-friendly sandwich wraps and snack bags – excellent for those summer excursions to the park or the zoo! If you’re like me, and don’t really know what a “sandwich wrap” is, click here for an explanation. Nothing to it, and certainly more environmentally responsible than zip-top baggies. You can check out Lisa’s full selection, and tons of fabric choices, at www.seweco.ca. Thanks Lisa!
Uli Ross has been chatting with us over on Facebook, and we’re happy to have one of her unique bracelets in our first C+H prize pack! Uli’s journey to chainmaille jewellery started when she was entertaining her young daughter with some beads, and eventually moved to putting tiny rings together in beautiful combinations. You can see some of her beautiful work on her Etsy shop or visit her blog. Her contribution to our prize pack is a colourful, stretchy chainmaille bracelet! So fun!
Chantilly, who runs the eclectic My Girl Thursday blog, is relaunching her Etsy shop today! Thanks, Chantilly, for sending us a very summery tote bag, made from “second chance” textiles (thrifted, repurposed, remnants etc.) Her goal is to give new life to discarded textiles. Chantilly (aka Thursday) has a great giveaway at her blog today, too!
So, please leave a comment, share your favourite Canadian crafty or artistic finds, and we’ll post the winner on Monday! We’d be grateful if you’d help spread the word about Canadian+Handmade by letting your friends, family, Facebook fans, Twitter followers etc. know about our little contest over here. The more the merrier!
Cheers to Canada – may you all have a day filled with plenty of good memories with family & friends. Stay safe.

One of my all time favourite Canadian craft shops is Boysenberry Lane from BC. I bought their purple people eater fingerless gloves awhile back and am thinking about getting some more for the kids :)
